World Premiere ‘a Billion Lives’ – in New Zealand
The New Zealand Vaping Alliance is very pleased that the documentary ‘A Billion Lives’ is having its world premiere in Wellington, 11 May 2016.
The documentary will air at the Doc Edge Festival – New Zealand’s only and Australasia’s premier international documentary film festival.
‘A Billion Lives’ is a documentary film about big money, government and the battle for #ABillionLives and includes commentary from a number of leading public health academics and researchers about e-cigarettes and vaping. Promotional material states:
‘A billion people are projected to die this century from smoking and there's a solution. It's not a perfect one, but it will save lives by reducing the harm caused from cigarettes by switching smokers to vaping nicotine. Unfortunately, there are big players with vested interests in keeping this new technology away from the masses.
- Pharmaceutical Companies (Big Pharma)
- Anti-smoking advocacy groups
- Tobacco companies
- Even our own national & state governments
Join us for the journey across four continents to seek the truth and discover why something that can save so many lives is banned or discouraged in so many countries.’
The New Zealand Vaping Alliance hopes that this film will spark a public and political debate about e-cigarettes and vaping due to international experts attending the premiere.
We believe nicotine e-liquid should be legalised in New Zealand. Currently the law allows nicotine e-liquid to be imported for personal use only. We strongly believe this needs to change.
We hope this film will draw attention to the fact that vaping has been estimated to be at least 95%* safer than smoking tobacco. (*See: Public Health England E-cigarette Report).
The New Zealand Vaping Alliance is available for media commentary about this film and about vaping and e-cigarette use in New Zealand.
