James & Wells gains international acclaim

NATIONAL – 2016: National intellectual property firm James & Wells has scooped a host of international awards, recognising the expertise of their litigation, patent and trade mark practices, including a spot in the prestigious World Trade Mark Review annual edition.

The firm secured a silver ranking, with judges commenting that James & Wells “has successfully established itself as a progressive, value-adding option for rights holders of all stripes.”

Litigation partner Ian Finch received a silver ranking for enforcement and litigation, with managing partner Carrick Robinson securing a silver ranking for prosecution and strategy.

“Hamilton-headquartered Ian Finch never shies away from the heat of battle, while former accountant Carrick Robinson has sound business sense with a keen eye for detail”, judges said.

Ian was also ranked in the 8th edition of Best Lawyers in New Zealand, for excellence in intellectual property law. Best Lawyers is the oldest guide to the legal profession, with winners selected by a peer-based research process.

Continuing his winning streak, Ian secured a notable mention in the Chambers and Partners Guide. First ranked by the guide in 2012, judges commented he “is well regarded for his skill advising clients on contentious matters such as trade mark infringement, cybersquatting and misuse of confidential information disputes. He is also recognised for his patent expertise and IP portfolio management advice”.
