Alexandra Park wins ‘Best Of The Best’ award for strategy

The Auckland Trotting Club has been named the supreme category winner for ‘Excellence In Strategy & Planning’ in the Westpac Auckland Best Of The Best Business Awards 2015.

Late last year the Auckland Trotting Club won the category for the Auckland Central region. However now the club has been recognised as the absolute best business in that category across Greater Auckland – beating the regional winners from Auckland North, South, and West.

“We’re just blown away. It was great winning the category for Auckland Central in November, but now to be named the best in strategy and planning across the entire region is a huge tribute to the team at Alexandra Park who continue to work so hard and remain so focused,” says Alexandra Park chief executive Dominique Dowding.

The award reflects the Auckland Trotting Club’s huge success in rolling out a bold strategic business plan which secures a stronger financial future for the club and harness racing in Auckland. A key part of that is Alexandra Park’s ambitious urban village development, now under construction on Green Lane West.

Ms Dowding says as a membership-based sporting club being formally recognised in a largely corporate arena is acknowledgement of just how comprehensively the club is commercially transforming.

“Winning is a huge endorsement of our vision, innovation and the culture and future we collectively believe in. In today’s climate of sport and entertainment we need to keep relevant and sustainable. The economic transformation and diversification of Alexandra Park’s business is critical to that.
