INZBC focuses on national presence

INZBC focuses on national presence with relaunch of Wellington Chapter.

Cementing its place as the leading national organization in India NZ Trade, INZBC launched its Wellington Chapter, on 16th March, in the presence of some key stake holders. Her Worship Celia Wade-Brown, Mayor of Wellington, congratulated INZBC for the relaunch of the chapter and has extended all support to the organisation for further enhancing the relationship with India.

She was very appreciative of the Indian businesses in Wellington and also the organisations that are doing business with India. She was pleased to welcome the new Indian High Commissioner designate and pleased to know the presence of MFAT, NZTE, Members of Parliament including Dr. Parmjeet Parmar and other government organisations, attending the event.

The new Indian High Commissioner designate, Mr. Sanjiv Kohli was also felicitated by the Mayor and the INZBC team. Mr. Kohli was pleased that he was being welcomed in the capital city by INZBC, in the academic excellence of Victoria University of Wellington. He further expressed his desire and happiness to work with INZBC, which is a 'credible 26-year-old organisation".  He acknowledged the good work being done by INZBC in this field and said the full support of the High Commission will be given to INZBC's activities.

Moira Turley, Unit Manager, South and South East Asia Division, MFAT also offered her felicitation and said that MFAT values the long relationship with INZBC and will continue to support its activities.

“The relaunch of INZBC in Wellington is primary for two reasons; Being the capital of New Zealand, not only the Government of New Zealand and other nodal agencies are there but also the Indian high commission is working out of Wellington, along with the industry”, says Mr. Wenceslaus Anthony, the head of Government relations of INZBC.

“The presence of the Mayor and the support of the local government is very important for the realisation of INZBC’s vision”, said Mr. Anthony.

About the new chapter

INZBC Chair, Robert Barker, while giving his opening remarks, introduced the new chapter head, Jay Changlani and gave outlines of the way it will work.

Jay is a Chartered Accountant and a Director of Accounts Icon, Chartered Accounting firm based in Wellington. Jay has over 10 years of Accounting, forensic accounting and tax experience. Some of his previous roles includes, Tax Manager at Grant Thornton and Crowe Horwath (WHK), Tax Investigator at the IRD, Forensic Accountant at McDonald Vague, and Financial Accountant at Flight Centre.

On the relaunch, Jay commented, “Relaunch of Wellington INZBC Chapter was a great success. It was well attended by Govt. officials and local businesses. Personally, I am thankful to INZBC executive team for showing trust in me to Head the Wellington Chapter.”

VUW Research Inspires Government and Business Collaboration

INZBC had partnered with The Victoria University of Wellington to host this event.

Dr. Revti Raman, Senior Lecturer – International Business, had given a presentation on INDIA-NZ Institutional Distance, Challenges and Mindset Adaptation. This was based on a recent study he had conducted.

One of their key employees in this space Siah Hwee Ang (The Bank of New Zealand Chair in Business in Asia) explains:

When we consider New Zealand India business dynamics Siah explains the relevance of Revti Raman’s work for the India New Zealand Education Council:

“While sharing historical ties, India and NZ businesses continue to face cross-border institutional environment challenges in their engagements. This project enhances our understanding in this arena, and reflects on Victoria University of Wellington’s strategic theme to enable New Zealand as an Asia-Pacific trading nation.”

INZBC strong on values:

Noting that this is a historic launch, Mr. Anthony said, “We are happy to felicitate the Indian High Commission designate in the capital city of Wellington”.

Commenting upon the strategic direction of INZBC, he said, “INZBC Is the only credible, premier organisation which is democratically run and promotes international trade and business between India and New Zealand. The leadership and his team abide with the core values of transparency and credibility. INZBC will continue to maintain its leadership position with MFAT, NZTE, office of Ethnic affairs, Indian High Commission and many other organisations that share the same values as INZBC.”

On this note he also mentioned that during his recent visit in India he met up with GTECH to review the status of the MOU.

Some new initiatives by INZBC:

Mr. Anthony also announced some new initiatives taken by INZBC, more details of which will be announced later.

INZBC has signed an MOU with Fieldays International, in support of an Agribusiness Summit during Fieldays week. The collaboration will allow Fieldays and INZBC to advance agriculture internationally, creating innovative opportunities to accelerate value across the globe.

INZBC has also signed an MOU with Haryana State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation LTD [HSIIDC], a public company owned by the Government of Haryana.  INZBC will work along with HSIIDC to create international events, hold seminars and B2B, B2G meetings, so that business can prosper on both sides of the border. 

On receiving feedback from the industry, INZBC along with NZTE are launching the India Unplugged series on 30 March. This is free for INZBC members. Leading experts will be speaking on topics relevant for business and trade between India and NZ.
