New Morning Show the Café Coming Soon to Tv3
Mid-morning television is getting a fresh look with TV3’s new 9am, lifestyle magazine show, The Café, starting April on TV3.
Hosted by Mike Puru (The Bachelor) and Mel Homer (Mix 98.2) The Café will be entertaining, fun, and relevant to New Zealanders. Popular guests and regular experts will provide useful advice, life-hacks and information across a wide range of topics, including food, finance, travel, celebrity, parenting, fashion, beauty, DIY, home décor and more.
The hour-long show will be filmed in front of a LIVE studio audience who can interact with the hosts. In addition, viewers at home will also be able to have their own questions answered by the experts.
“Fronting a major daily show like this is a dream come true for me as a broadcaster,” says Mike Puru. “I can’t wait to be talking to New Zealand every morning again. I’m really looking forward to working with Mel too, she’s an absolute professional and great fun.”
"I've known Mike for ages, so it's great that we'll get to work together on The Café." Says Mel Homer. "Providing an upbeat hour of fun and interesting TV each day really is a dream job!"
Developed and produced by newly formed production company Toe Rag Productions*, The Café is a self-funding programme with opportunities for sponsors and clients to be integrated across the show. Executive Producers Holly Pollock and Alex Breingan have an extensive background in TV and Radio, both in New Zealand and the UK.
“We just couldn’t believe New Zealand was being left without a local morning show when we knew there was an audience and advertisers there. We went about putting one together that was fresh, fun, and highly relevant,” says Alex Breingan.
Holly Pollock explains: “Kiwis have a great café culture. We want the show to feel as if viewers are at their favourite café, catching up with a bunch of friends. It’s creating a community for those at home in the morning to be part of.”
MediaWorks Group Content Director, Andrew Szusterman is thrilled to be providing Kiwis with another local daytime show: “We are excited to be working withThe Café team to capitalise on an opportunity we think really exists in that mid-morning slot. Both Mike Puru and Mel Homer are fantastic broadcasters with extensive TV and radio experience. We look forward to seeing them on TV3 screens in April.”
The Café will screen weekdays on TV3 from Monday 11 April at 9am.
