Flight Centre for Fiji

March 02 2016

Flight Centre for Fiji

The Flight Centre Foundation today announced that for every Fiji holiday booked in March Flight Centre (NZ) Ltd will donate $50NZD per person to support the recovery and rebuild after Cyclone Winston.

The Flight Centre Foundation is the heart of the Group’s corporate and social responsibility strategy and has a purpose to “open up the world to provide a better future”.

With Fiji forming such an integral part of New Zealanders holidays and being so close to home, the company felt it was important to not only help with raising funds to support the recovery, but to also participate and help in the rebuild.

In addition to donating funds, the Foundation is calling on those who are travelling to Fiji in the next month to make space in their suitcase to take school supplies, clean clothing, books and blankets. Ground Handler Destination Fiji will meet Flight Centre customers at the airport in Nadi and take the items for distribution to the most in need parts of the islands.

Flight Centre Foundation Chairperson Jodie Burnard says, “this is one of those times where communities work together to take care of their neighbours anyway they can. For Flight Centre and The Foundation, it is important to us not just to raise money, but to get involved, get our staff involved and get our customers participating as well”.

In further recognition of the Foundations commitment, Flight Centre has pledged to do more than just donate. “We have teams of our Flight Centre staff up in Fiji during March, taking time off from work and family to volunteer with everything from painting schools to helping rebuild local communities, distribute the donated goods and generally help out where ever we can.” Jodie finished.

All money raised by the Flight Centre foundation will be distributed by the Red Cross Disaster Fund.
