New Zealand Wool Services International Limited’s C.E.O, Mr John Dawson reports that the combined North and South Island auctions with 12,290 bales saw a 79 percent clearance with a firm to easier market.
The weighted indicator for the main trading currencies was practically unchanged compared to the last sale on 11th February.
Mr Dawson advises that with China still having their New Year break, types destined for that market saw targeted buying with prices affected by old business shipping requirements creating wide variations.
Fine Crossbred Full Fleece ranged from 1.5 percent cheaper to 3.5 percent dearer. Fine Crossbred Shears were firm to 1.5 percent cheaper.
Coarse Crossbred Full Fleece were firm to 1.5 percent cheaper. Coarse Shears were Buyers Favour to 2.5 percent cheaper in the South and ranged from 2 percent dearer to 4 percent cheaper in the North.
First Lambs finer than 29.5 microns were 1.5 percent dearer to 3 percent cheaper between centres with coarser types 1.5 to 6.5 percent cheaper.
Oddments were 2 to 6 percent easier.
Focused buying interest with older contracts for China, ongoing interest from Australasia and renewed interest from India the main influences, supported by Western Europe, Middle East and United Kingdom.
Next sale on 25th February comprises approximately 8,700 bales from the South Island.
