Iconic Kiwi brand Line 7 sponsors Port Nicholson Regatta
The brand that has dressed New Zealand’s most successful sailors since 1963 will again sponsor the Regatta
Line 7 is pleased to announce their long-standing relationship with the Port Nicholson Regatta will continue this year as the race’s named event sponsor.
The 2016 Port Nicholson Line 7 Regatta will welcome around 25 entries and will take place from the 12th – 14th February in the Wellington Harbour.
The iconic New Zealand brand is delighted to continue supporting the industry its been involved in since its inception more than 50 years ago.
“Our sponsorship reflects our commitment to getting Kiwi sailors out on the water – to go just as hard as our garments do ” says Line 7’s business manager Danielle Lambert.
Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club’s Vice Commodore says the partnership with such an esteemed local brand is fitting for a yacht club with more than 130 years of history.
Paul Atkins says the brand is an integral part of sailing in New Zealand.
“Line 7’s association with premier crews and teams that have competed internationally has given New Zealand sailing a profile boost around the world.
“Its a homegrown story,” says Mr Atkins.
Mr Atkins says the brand is particularly well loved by Wellington sailors for its performance on the water.
“It’s a product everyone in the sailing community can understand because it’s hard wearing, solid gear that everyone can wear and it looks good.”
Line 7, a company started in a West Auckland garage, has fitted out Kiwi crews racing in the biggest yachting events in the world – the America’s Cup, the Whitbread Around the World Yacht Race, and the World Match Racing Tour, as well as producing official Sydney Olympics merchandise.
But local industry support is something the company has been dedicated to throughout its history, and its commitment to local yachting is what is behind this year’s sponsorship of the Regatta.
In a further nod to supporting homegrown sailors, Line 7 will award the winners of the regatta with a limited initial sample of their innovative proprietary Celliant technology shirts. With stock due to arrive soon on New Zealand shores, regatta-goers will be offered an exclusive preview of the exciting new technology.
The result of meticulous scientific endeavor, Celliant technology reflects energy back into the body, delivering a powerful boost to performance. This radical fiber is suffused with a potent mix of thermo-reactive minerals that recycle and convert radiant body heat into infrared energy. A medically proven vasodilator, infrared energy stimulates circulation, enhances cellular recovery and regulates body temperature.
“Celliant technology promotes faster recovery whilst enhancing endurance” says Line 7 representative Duthie Lidgard. “I’m looking forward to showing Kiwi yachties how they can get a leading edge on the competition and, of course, getting out on the water with everyone.”
