Hukafalls Jet Manager Part of Huge Fundraising Effort
Taupo, 2 February 2016 – Hukafalls Jet's Business Manager Simon Thew recently boxed his way to success in Taupo's huge charity fundraiser the
Zero Risk King of the Ring.
Held in Taupo in December last year, the event is New Zealand's most successful charity boxing event and raised more
than $330,000 to benefit local charities. On Wednesday more than $276,000 was given to 16 local groups including Apopo,
Blue Light, Cancer Support, Coastguard, Empowered Learning, Greening Taupo, Hospice and the SPCA. Remaining funds will
be issued as grants through the charity's ongoing granting programme.
Simon says, "Each of the charities partnered with a boxer and fundraised for the event, my charity was Bluelight who do
amazing work with at risk youth in the community, I'm proud to be able help them further their work. Together we raised
more than $28,000 which is fantastic."
He says that he enjoyed training for the event and it was a rewarding way to combine fitness and fundraising for a great
cause in one - he hasn't ruled out taking to the ring again for the next fundraiser.
Since 2009 Zero Risk King of the Ring has fundraised more than $1,000,000 for local Taupo charities.

In 1999 Christchurch based Ngai Tahu Corporation invested in the Shotover Jet Group and since then has taken full
ownership of the group and has also expanded it with new acquisitions. Ngai Tahu Tourism now includes Hukafalls Jet,
Shotover Jet, Dart River Safaris, Rainbow Springs, Kiwi Encounter, Franz Joseph Glacier Guides, the Hollyford Track and
Agrodome in Rotorua.
