New Plymouth set to Go Faster with UFB
The next generation of online game designers will get free, hands-on experience next month as part of an event to showcase Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) in action.
To celebrate and promote the completion of the UFB network in New Plymouth, Local Fibre Company Ultrafast Fibre Limited is holding a two-day ‘Beyond Broadband’ Expo at TSB Showplace, from Friday 19 to Saturday 20 February.
Ultrafast Fibre CEO William Hamilton says the workshop for primary and intermediate students is just one example of how UFB can enable opportunities for people in New Plymouth.
“UFB is available and in action in New Plymouth. We want to encourage everyone across the City to understand the benefits of being connected to the fibre network. Getting involved in the Expo is a great way to learn more,” he says.
“The ‘Beyond Broadband’ Expo will show the New Plymouth community first hand just how UFB can transform the way they communicate, work and play online.”
‘Create your own game’ will be the first of a series of free workshops that will be run throughout the Expo.
Led by game creator Gamefroot, students will receive two-hours of free tuition and creating.
Other workshops will cover a range of topics, including ‘The Age of e-Learning’, ‘Connect Smarter, Work Faster’, and ‘Demystifying your UFB Connection’.
“There will definitely be something for everyone,” Mr Hamilton says.
“From the computer novice wanting to easily connect with family overseas, to the tech wiz wanting to experience everything that a world-class broadband connection has to offer.”
The ‘Beyond Broadband’ Expo will showcase a variety of technology companies and broadband retail service providers, allowing people to speak directly with the experts and obtain one-to-one advice.
