Relief for Drivers as BP Reduces National Prices Again
12 January 2016
BP decreased its national prices for petrol and diesel today, bringing diesel prices further below one dollar.
BP removed 2 cents per litre off petrol and 3 cents per litre off diesel, bringing unleaded 91 to 182.9 cents per litre and diesel to 96.9 cents per litre.
BP Communications Manager Shelley Brady said decreases in refined product costs had enabled BP to pass through the decrease across its company-owned network.
“We haven’t seen much movement in refined product costs for petrol since Christmas, so it was great to get some relief today,” she said.
Brady said today’s decrease on diesel was the seventh BP has had since early December as international demand for diesel continues to ease off the back of a warmer European winter and slower Chinese economy.
“The NZ dollar remains volatile so we are watching for any exchange rate movements very closely as any drops in the dollar can offset cost of product improvements,” Brady said.
BP has taken 13 cents off its national unleaded price and 23 cents off its national diesel price in a little over a month.
BP national prices as 12 January 2016:
91 Unleaded-182.9 cents per litre
95 Unleaded-191.9 cents per litre
Ultimate 98-199.9 cents per litre
Ultimate Diesel -96.9 cents per litre
