Fletcher Building achieves Rainbow Tick certification

Fletcher Building achieves Rainbow Tick certification

Auckland, 14 December 2015 – Fletcher Building is New Zealand’s first construction and building materials company to achieve Rainbow Tick certification.

Rainbow Tick certification demonstrates a business is an inclusive organisation for people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, takatapui and intersex.

At an event to celebrate certification, Rainbow Tick’s Michael Stevens congratulated Fletcher Building for becoming New Zealand’s first construction and building materials company to be certified.

“We were surprised when Fletcher Building contacted us as we hadn’t thought to approach a construction company which shows even at the Rainbow Tick we need to challenge our own stereotypes of what sort of organisations want to be inclusive.”

Michael Stevens said Rainbow Tick certification sent a clear message from the leadership of Fletcher Building that it is a safe place for employees to fully be themselves at work.

Fletcher Building Chief Executive Officer Mark Adamson said it was a six month process to be audited and achieve certification and he was proud of the team who worked so hard on the project.

“As the Chairman of Fletcher Building’s Diversity Council it makes me proud we have achieved this certification as it’s an indication of the importance we place on diversity in our workplace.”
