Century 21 raises over $22,000 for breast cancer
Century 21 New Zealand has presented a cheque to the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation (NZBCF) for $22,218.
The proceeds were raised by Century 21 and its offices nationwide during NZBCF’s Pink October, with Century 21 New Zealand an official ‘Community Supporter’ for the month.
“This was the second year Century 21 turned pink. Our goal for 2015 was to raise more than $20,000 so I’m delighted we exceeded that,” says Geoff Barnett, National Manager of Century 21 New Zealand.
“As a company, Pink October is our main charity fundraiser for the year. So we’re pleased to have helped with community awareness as well as raise $22,218 to support women with breast cancer and for vital research.”
Mr Barnett says in addition to local fundraising efforts from Century 21’s different offices, the proceeds received a significant boost from two significant events the real estate company held.
The main fundraiser was Pink Race Day at the Waipa Racing Club in Te Awamutu on Melbourne Cup day, where money was raised through ticket sales, prizes for the best dressed, auction items, and raffles.
Given Century 21 New Zealand’s head office is in Parnell, Auckland, the real estate company also worked with the local business association Parnell Inc, and Parnell Rotary to co-host a ‘Pink In Parnell’ evening which saw many local businesspeople attend and generously donate to the cause.
Mr Barnett says the month was not just about fundraising events.
“Many of our franchise owners, agents, and staff’s famous gold jackets were swapped for pink ones for the entire month seen at the likes of open homes and auctions. Our website changed colour as did our signboards, marketing material and many of our offices were decorated pink. We also used our different social media networks to help raise awareness.”
Mr Barnett says Century 21 Australia also supports breast cancer, and in New Zealand the company remains steadfastly committed to the cause and growing its fundraising activity and donation to NZBCF each year.
