Consumer NZ names Top Brand ovens and espresso machines

Bosch, Breville and Miele are the latest winners of 2015 Consumer NZ Top Brand awards.

Bosch has won in the dual-fuel oven category, Breville for espresso machines and Miele for wall ovens.

Consumer’s Top Brand endorsements were established this year and brands are measured by a robust methodology. To achieve Top Brand status, a brand must perform well across our product tests as well as our customer satisfaction and reliability surveys.

Bosch, Breville and Miele were above average in product tests and customer satisfaction, and had at least average reliability. In Consumer’s customer satisfaction survey, Bosch dual-fuel ovens achieved a satisfaction rating of 87 percent , Breville espresso machines achieved 90 percent and Miele wall ovens 95 percent.

Results were calculated from our independent tests on 57 ovens, 33 espresso machines and survey results from more than 4000 Consumer NZ members.

Product testing receives a 50 percent weighting under the methodology with satisfaction and reliability both receiving 25 percent. More information about the Top Brand endorsement is available on Consumer’s website -www.consumer.org.nz/topics/about-top-brand

Consumer general manager – business Derek Bonnar said the Top Brand award is one of the most robust and important endorsements in the New Zealand market.

“Measuring three key components and asking thousands of New Zealanders for their opinion means the winning brands have to perform across the board to be considered a Top Brand. We congratulate these three brands,” he said.

Winning brands can license use of Consumer NZ awards for marketing and promotions. All revenue raised from the endorsement programme goes back to the research and testing programme, the awards initiatives, and to working on behalf of consumers, Mr Bonnar said.
