Stardome Announces New Board Appointment

Stardome Observatory and Planetarium is pleased to announce that a new trustee has joined the Auckland Observatory and Planetarium Trust board.

Carol Gernhoefer has been appointed to the Stardome board, due to member retirement. Carol is a Chartered Accountant with international experience working for large firms in New Zealand, the UK, and Japan. At governance level, she has held Board positions for not-for-profit organisations including Independent Living Service and the Auckland War Memorial Museum. She has over twenty years of financial management, valuation, auditing, commercial accounting and governance experience. She is also the creator of the ‘Auckland for Kids’ website and enjoys spending time with her young family, the arts, and travelling.

“We are looking forward to welcoming Carol to the Auckland Observatory and Planetarium Trust board,” says Stardome Chair, Geoff Mason. “Her extensive experience in finance and strategic governance for not-for-profit organisations will be a great addition to the Stardome board.

“We would like to acknowledge the contribution of David Hosking, who has been a valued member of the Stardome board for 15 years. He has provided immeasurable guidance over the years, and his involvement and commitment to the organisation will be missed.”
