Kiwi Property launches augmented reality experience nationwide
Kiwi shoppers are set to escape to a winter wonderland this Christmas, with the launch of New Zealand’s largest-ever augmented reality experience at Kiwi Property’s six shopping centres around the country.
The animated experience called ‘Feel the Magic’ brings to life a winter wonderland. Shoppers will enter the experience and be able to interact with enchanting characters including penguins, reindeer, snowmen and a yeti.
The characters respond to people’s movement, so shoppers will experience something unique to them.
Karl Retief, Kiwi Property’s General Manager Retail, said: “Shopping doesn’t have to be about ticking off a Christmas list or getting through chores. It should be fun, and we wanted to give something back to our shoppers in an enjoyable way.
“The augmented reality experience is free and is bound to capture the imagination of shoppers as they’re encouraged to have fun.”
Kiwi Property is one of New Zealand’s largest retail operators and has rolled out the augmented reality experience in all six of its shopping centres nationwide: Sylvia Park, LynnMall, Centre Place, The Plaza, North City and Northlands.
“We really can’t wait to see how customers interact with this technology. We’ve had a great time developing the experience with our partners and it’s the first time anything of its kind has been offered in a New Zealand shopping centre,” said Mr Retief.
Four different characters have animated scenes developed around them, but it’s up to users on how their experience goes. The more they interact with the animated characters, the better their experience will be.
The augmented reality experience will be operating from Tuesday 1 December to Wednesday 23 December. Participants will receive a free photo of themselves with the characters they’ve interacted with.
“Technology is changing, and we are changing with it,” Mr Retief said. “We encourage all of our customers to have a go – we’re telling everyone it’s a great time to feel the magic.”
Customers can share photos of their ‘Feel the Magic’ experience with family and friends via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
