New Philips LED bulb ranges provide more options for personalising home lighting
Auckland, New Zealand – Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in lighting, has released three new LED bulb ranges, providing a greater variety of bulb designs to enable personalisation of home lighting and to meet different interior design needs. Greater choice and flexibility of LED lighting solutions makes it even easier for people to make the switch to energy-saving LED.
“Consumers today want to be able to personalise the design of their homes and lighting is very much part of this. Homeowners no longer look for a light bulb just to illuminate their home; lighting also needs to suit the type of activities performed in a particular space, while also enhancing its design,” said Gordon Wiffen, General Manager, Philips Lighting New Zealand.
The new Philips LED Deco Classic filament bulbs are “on-trend” as an eye-catching interior design feature, combining classic vintage styling with energy efficient LED. They come in eight different designs and are best suited for chandeliers, wall sconces or modern luminaires. They produce beautiful, ambient light while also delivering substantial energy savings in comparison to incandescent filament bulbs and have an estimated lifetime of up to 15,000 hours.
The Philips Scene Switch LED bulb is a 2-in-1 LED bulb that allows homeowners to enjoy the benefits of warm white light and cool daylight in a single light bulb, with just a flick of a regular light switch and no extra wiring required. This provides the flexibility to vary the light colour in a room to suit different home activities and needs. For example, someone who works from home can start their day with cool daylight, which helps with concentration, and switch to warm white light in the evening when it is time to relax and unwind.
In addition to the Scene Switch and Deco Classic LED bulbs, Philips has also launched the new next-generation (Gen5) LED bulbs range for the home. These are available in varying sizes and feature a new full moon design which allows for a wider angle of light distribution, giving more ambient, non-glaring lighting that is bright yet comfortable for the eyes.
“With lighting making up around 8%[i] of the average New Zealand home’s electricity bill , converting to energy efficient lighting is one simple and effective way to reduce overall energy consumption and cost, especially with more options now available for meeting specific interior design needs,” says Mr. Wiffen.
Compared to incandescent light bulbs the energy efficiency gains from using LED light bulbs are significant. Philips’ LED light bulbs use up to 88%[ii] less energy and are estimated to last up to 15 years[iii], offering greater savings over longer periods of time.
Recent sales data (Aztec) shows that New Zealand consumers are embracing the switch to LED bulbs for the home with the LED category growing 61% as at 1 November 2015 compared to 2014.
