SEANZ announces Excellence in Solar Industry award winners
SEANZ announces Excellence in Solar Industry award winners.
Every year SEANZ recognises excellence in the solar industry with our annual awards.
With exponential growth in Solar PV installations so too have we seen records in the size of installations and in the levels of innovation displayed by SEANZ members.
SEANZ
thanks ABB for sponsoring the awards and congratulates all
award winners.
1. Largest Solar PV
Implementation in NZ – Awarded to PowerSmart Solar for the
Sylvia Park Mall in Auckland solar implementation at
351kWp
As the largest solar installation in New
Zealand, this system leads the way as the model for
commercial solar in New Zealand. It covers around 16% of the
Sylvia Park Mall's base demand and provides substantial
savings for the mall.
2. Largest Solar PV
Implementation outside NZ – Awarded to Reid Technology for
the Racecourse Solar Farm 2.2MWp system in Western
Samoa
A Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
Trade funded implementation this system is the largest and
one of the most significant installations in the
Pacific.
3. Most Innovative Product is awarded to Solarcity for the solarZero programme implemented in New Zealand earlier this year
Solarcity received this award because their innovative solarZero power purchase agreement allows access to solar generation by more kiwis through removing the financial upfront costs. The programme has broken new ground in New Zealand.
4. Most Innovative Solution is awarded to Vector for the Future of Energy Campaign
The Future of Energy provides deserving organisations like schools, charity groups, and individuals with the opportunity to harness solar and storage. Vectors innovative solution allows not only the obvious benefits for consumers but brings interactivity with a new client base, allows Vector to understand wider network impacts and leads the way with an unregulated business model in the New Zealand electricity distribution industry.
5. Most Innovative Implementation is awarded to Reid Technology for the Fulton Hogan Laboratory solar implementation
Reid Technology won this award as they provided a solution that the traditional electricity industry could not remedy effectively. The solution includes solar and batteries to meet electricity demand at specific times in the laboratory where the testing of road surfaces and materials is completed.
6. Best Small Solar PV Business is awarded to Hubands Energy from Whangarei
Hubands Energy have developed a business from the ground up in a short period of time based on securing client satisfaction through great process and delivering the result. Testament to this is the outstanding accolades from their clients. Their processes from system design to logistics to implementation defines their success.
7. Best Solar Implementation is awarded to Reid
Technology for the Racecourse Solar Farm 2.2MWp system in
Western Samoa
The quality of the system design
and the quality of the completed project won Reid technology
this award. As a solar farm, use of quality technology
linked with knowledgeable technical inputs and independent
project management is essential to deliver the outcomes for
the long term.
8. Best Solar with Storage
Implementation less than ½ MWp in size is awarded to What
Power Crisis for the Fred Hollows Foundation Eye Hospital,
Solomon Islands installation - an Off Grid 100 kWp solar
system
The provision of a constant flow of lower
cost electricity to the Fred Hollows Foundation Eye hospital
was essential for its continued operation. The high profile
site has demonstrated the practicality of solar and
batteries in the Solomon Islands and What Power Crisis were
able to deliver this through a high quality installation
using world class technology and intellectual property from
NZ.
9. Best Solar with Storage Implementation
over ½ MWp in size is awarded to PowerSmart Solar for the
Northern Cooks and Tuvalu
implementation
PowerSmart were awarded this
given the complexity of the undertaking to deliver solar and
storage to enable the local communities on each island. From
logistics to design to commissioning to building a mini grid
over the islands powered by solar with battery backup is a
huge undertaking and PowerSmart delivered the
result.
10. SEANZ Supreme Award - Industry Person
