Home appliance and technology store 100% Appliances, and hardware and DIY store Mitre 10 have been awarded Consumer NZ’s 2015 People’s Choice Awards.
The awards follow Consumer NZ’s survey of the best and worst retailers. Feedback was received from nearly 10,000 members who rated shops on their price, range, point-of-sale and after-sale service. Consumer also asked how likely members would be to recommend the stores.
Comments about 100% Appliances included: “Brilliant service and very helpful.” “Took time to explain differences between products. Did not push.”
Comments about Mitre 10 included: “Always get very helpful suggestions and assistance from staff.” “I had to take the lawnmower back because it broke. They did a good job of getting it fixed.”
Both retailers rated well across all areas of the survey.
Consumer NZ launched its People’s Choice Awards this year to make it easy for people to recognise products, services and businesses that performed strongly in member satisfaction surveys.
Consumer NZ CEO Sue Chetwin said it was great to see a big-box retailer like Mitre 10 show it could win the battle for people’s hard-earned cash through good customer service. 100% Appliances beat out much bigger stores in just about every category.
100% Appliances said it was specially honoured to receive a Consumer NZ People’s Choice award as it was recognition from those who meant most – loyal customers. Similarly, Mitre 10 CEO Neil Cowie said customers were central to everything the company did.
Winning brands can license use of Consumer NZ awards for marketing and promotions. All revenue goes back to Consumer’s research and testing programmes, the awards initiatives, and to working on behalf of consumers, Ms Chetwin said.
