Customer demand sees Whitcoulls open two new stores in Auckland
Whitcoulls is delighted to announce the opening of two new stores in Auckland. One in the heart of the CBD at 55-57 High Street, which opens its doors on November 12; the second, in the new Northwest Shopping Centre development in West Auckland.
The range for Whitcoulls High Street is being determined by the interests and requirements of central city customers, who are committed book buyers. That means that the book offering at their High Street store will be strong, and further boosted on opening by the release of Dan Carter: My Story.
Both Whitcoulls High Street and Northwest will host instore signings for World Rugby player of the year, Dan Carter, on November 17. Their stores in Riccarton Christchurch and Botany Downs will also host signings for Carter in November, on the 15th and 17th respectively.
“Our customers made it very clear that they wanted to see us in the city and, as the business continues to thrive under the James Pascoe Limited ownership, it is timely that we are there in time for Christmas,” said Whitcoulls Book Manager, Joan Mackenzie.
Mackenzie went on to say, “recent months have shown that our customers are loving our stock selection, from fun and educational games and toys, through to a wide selection of fashion stationery and gifting, and a terrific range of books. Books remain close to our heart and this year’s line-up, along with some fantastic leisure and entertainment products, is among the best the team at Whitcoulls has seen in a long time. We are confident that we will deliver a very special Kiwi Christmas to everyone.”
Whitcoulls is a major national retailer with 56 stores throughout New Zealand, offering a wide selection of stationery, educational toys, puzzles, games, books, gifts, greeting cards and wrap. Whitcoulls was founded over 130 years ago when George Tombs, a printer and bookbinder, and George Whitcombe, a publisher and bookseller, combined their businesses to create a national publishing company. Whitcombe & Tombs merged with key competitor Coulls Somerville Wilkie, and was renamed Whitcoulls in 1973. Whitcoulls is now proudly New Zealand owned by the James Pascoe Group which includes The Farmers Trading Co, Stevens, Pascoes the Jewellers, Stewart Dawson’s and Goldmark.
