Hyundai Santa Fe prize for Young Viticulturist of the Year

On the Road to Success - Hyundai Santa Fe prize for Bayer Young Viticulturist of the Year 2015


Caleb Dennis, Bayer Young Viticulturist of the Year 2015 was handed the keys to his fantastic prize from Hyundai last week and now has full use of a Santa Fe for a whole year. This was part of his prize package for winning the tough National Final in Hawke’s Bay at the end of August.

“We are extremely grateful to Hyundai for their support and sponsorship.” says Nicky Grandorge, National Co-ordinator, Bayer Young Viticulturist of the Year. “This is an amazing prize and adds another layer of determination and drive to the competition as the contestants would all love to win this stylish and luxurious car.”

Caleb is thrilled with the vehicle and can’t wait to hit the road. Lengthy trips are on hold at the moment though, as it is now just 2 weeks to go till the Young Horticulturist of the Year competition. Caleb will represent the viticultural industry as he competes against finalists from other horticultural sectors including Landscaping, Nursery & Garden, Amenity Horticulture and Vegetable, Fruit & Flower Growing. There will be a mix of theory and practical questions throughout the competition.

Caleb is submitting his business plan for his highly innovative product to the judges this week and will compete in the Finals on the 11-12thNovember. Members from NZ Winegrowers, previous Young Vits and colleagues from Craggy Range, where Caleb works as Group Technical Officer, will be at the Grand Final Dinner to support him deliver his speech. The Young Horticulturist of the Year 2015 will then be announced that evening.
