Ovum Comment: Money 20/20 Highlights Day 2

Ovum Comment: Money 20/20 Highlights Day 2

After a fairly monumental day one, full of big announcements and awe at the sheer scale of the event, day two of Money20/20 2015 settled into a more workmanlike groove as attendees and exhibitors alike got to grips with the latest technologies on display.

Key amongst these developments has been the big focus on wearable payment technology, in numerous instances taken quite literally, including dresses and gloves with built in payment technology from MasterCard, and connected smart cards from Visa.

The POS space was also in focus, startup company Poynt, with their smart pos device technology and software platform generating significant buzz due to their slick technology, strong pedigree Via founder Osama Bedier, formerly of Google and PayPal, and a notably large presence on a big stand for such a young company.

However, the biggest news of the day actually originated outside the conference with Apple Pay announcing its partnership with Amex for roll out to Australia and Canada amongst other markets which got conversations going, and likely made Apple's sizeable presence on the ground, albeit without a formal stand, in high demand by attendees.

The day ended with a notably high spirited panel on the role of Bitcoin in financial services. Although the hype is dying down after fever pitch, interest remains high and will likely remain a popular topic of interest amongst attendees.
