Rugby Fans Set Sights on Last Minute Flights to London

Rugby fans across Australia and New Zealand are setting their sights on the UK, with Cheapflights, the leading flight search and deals publishing platform, reporting a surge in searches for flights to London to coincide with this weekend’s Rugby World Cup semi-finals.

Since the All Blacks advanced to the semis, Cheapflights has recorded a 19 per cent increase in searches by New Zealand users looking for flights to reach London in time for the match against South Africa on 24 October.

In Australia, there has also been a 27 per cent lift in searches for flights that will get fans to the UK for the Wallabies’ game against Argentina on 25 October.

According to Phil Bloomfield, Global Head of Communications at Cheapflights, there are still great deals available for fans looking to make a last-minute flight to London for the semis or finals.

“With the northern hemisphere teams now out of the running, official ticket reseller Viagogo has reported an increase in available tickets, meaning there is a great opportunity for savvy punters try and snag a spot at the Twickenham stadium during finals week,” he said.

“You could fly from Sydney to Heathrow today, and head back in the days after the grand final for around $1600, which is amazing value. Just be sure you have your tickets locked in and somewhere to sleep, and you’re off.”

Bloomfield noted that interest is predicted to surge again once the finals line-up is decided and urged Aussie and Kiwi fans to do their research now if they had any thoughts of heading north for the biggest game in the rugby calendar.
