Bluebridge announced as 10km sponsor for Cigna Round the Bays

Sport Wellington is pleased to announce a new partnership in conjunction with their iconic Wellington event, Cigna Round the Bays. Bluebridge Cook Strait Ferry has been announced as sponsor and naming rights holder of the 10km distance for upcoming Cigna Round the Bays events.

Strait Shipping is delighted to be involved with Cigna Round the Bays. The Kiwi owners and operators of Bluebridge actively support the communities in which their employees and customers live, work and play in.

“As a big supporter of bike and run events, we are very excited about getting involved being an iconic event for one of our businesses two hometown locations” says Sheryl Ellison, Bluebridge Managing Director.

“We’re really looking forward to supporting Wellingtonians as they take to the streets to participate and intend on encouraging Bluebridge staff and crew to don their running shows and get involved as well” says Sheryl.

Event organisers Sport Wellington operate with a focus to promote, develop and support sport and active recreation in the Wellington region. The organisation continues to deliver the event each year in a bid to encourage the greater Wellington community to become more involved in sport and active recreation.

Sport Wellington CEO Phil Gibbons says “We are extremely pleased to have Bluebridge join the Cigna Round the Bays family of sponsors.”

“It is a great opportunity for both Sport Wellington and Bluebridge” says Phil. ”Ultimately the sponsorship will benefit the event and the thousands of participants we are expecting in 2016. It also provides a very affordable option for our participants from the top of the South Island to join in the event.”

Cigna Round the Bays will be held on Sunday, 21st February 2016 on Wellington’s waterfront, registrations for the event opened on Monday, 19th October. The event features a variety of distance options including the 6.5km Fun Run/Walk and Buggy Walk from Frank Kitts to Kilbirnie Park, the Bluebridge 10km and the Cigna Achilles half marathon. Due to the popularity of the event, it is recommended that participants register early to secure their spot at the start line.
