Southern Discoveries rebrands booking centre and café to Discover Milford Sound
Established tourism company Southern Discoveries has rebranded its Milford Sound café and booking centre to Discover Milford Sound Information Centre and Café.
Formerly known as the Blue Duck Café, the Discover Milford Sound brand mirrors that of the company’s successful information and booking centre, Discover Queenstown.
As well as a new name, the building has undergone a refurbishment with a coat of fresh paint and new interior and exterior signage creating a more inviting environment for visitors.
Southern Discoveries’ sales and marketing director Julia Savill said it was an exciting project to extend the Discover brand into Milford Sound.
“Thousands of visitors from all around the world visit Milford Sound every year so we’re delighted to offer a booking service for travellers who are looking for things to do in Milford or routes for their onward journey after Fiordland,” she said.
Southern Discoveries Milford Sound operations manager Wolfgang Hainzl said the new-look information centre would be an added bonus for visitors to the area.
“It’s the perfect spot for people to take time to stop, relax and read up on all they need to know about local activities before making their bookings,” he said.
“You can enjoy a tasty snack served up with spectacular views, and from there it’s an easy five-minute stroll along a clearly-marked path to the cruise terminal ready for boarding your boat.”
Queenstown-based company Sign It Signs was contracted to design and implement the new look and general manager James Clark said it was fantastic to work on another big project for Southern Discoveries.
“We helped Southern Discoveries create its bright and eye-catching Discover Queenstown brand for its information centre right in the heart of town, so we’re delighted to replicate that into the stunning Milford Sound environment,” he said.
Southern Discoveries has made significant investments in new products and experiences in Milford, Te Anau and Queenstown over the past five years including its booking and information centre Discover Queenstown, and the launch of its high-speed, multi-million-dollar catamaran Spirit of Queenstown taking visitors for cruises on Lake Wakatipu and across to Mount Nicholas High Country Farm.
