Strong winter visitation numbers for Lake Wanaka
Wanaka, New Zealand (13 October 2015) - Released
yesterday, the Commercial Accommodation Monitor (CAM),
showed continued, strong visitor growth for the Lake Wanaka
region.
Domestic guest nights rose 12.6 percent in August, international guest nights were up 1.4 percent, with overall guest nights up 5.7 percent for August 2015, compared with August 2014.
This growth continues on from what has been a fantastic winter season, where guest nights were up 18.1 percent in June and 1.6 percent in July a cumulative increase for the winter months of 6.4 percent.
“We have done a lot of work with consumers to educate them about Wanaka’s fantastic ski offering, while we have also received great international recognition thanks to accolades including National Geographic World's 25 Best Ski Towns.

“The season got off to a great start in June with Cardrona opening a week earlier, record snowfalls creating some of the best conditions we have ever seen, and all three of Wanaka’s ski fields Treble Cone, Cardrona and Snow Farm receiving record visitation numbers.”
For the year ended August 2015 total guest nights increased by 9.8 percent to total 702,374 compared with the previous year.
