Treasure hunts go digital with SPANQ

Welcome to SPANQ, a treasure hunt game for the 21st Century.
With SPANQ you create your own challenges, build your own treasure hunt quests and can share them with the world around.
Or borrow someone else’s game and adapt it to your own needs. We’ve even included a range of challenges and quests to
get you started.
Simply log on, pick a location and start building.
Challenges can be as easy or difficult as you want. Check in at a location. Build a human pyramid. Take a photo of a
certain building. Find a particular statue or solve a riddle and unlock a mystery - the level of difficulty is entirely
up to you and the people you’re playing with.
SPANQ creator Conan Magill says the game is a great way to bring a group of people together in a fun, engaging way.
“Having everyone working together on a challenge and competing with other teams is a fun way to bond, to build
camaraderie or just to get out into the local community.”
Hamilton-based Conan built SPANQ because team building exercises and staff parties were getting a bit stale.
“It occurred to me that there was no digital version of the old scavenger hunt and that seemed like a real loss in an
era where we have smartphones with cameras and GPS.”
SPANQ can be used by players of all ages and can be played anywhere in the world. Players can build challenges and whole
quests and then share with the rest of the SPANQ community.
“The more we play, the more games there are and you can start to draw ideas from other players in other parts of the
world.”
