House of Travel thrilled at United Airlines’ AKL – SFO announcement
House of Travel is delighted at today’s announcement that United Airlines will begin flying direct from Auckland to San Francisco as early as July next year.
House of Travel Commercial Director Brent Thomas says the new offering allows for more variety and flexibility for Kiwis travelling to the States.
“It is fantastic to have another carrier flying direct to San Fran to give Kiwis more variety when flying to the States. Not only does the addition of new flights open up more capacity for New Zealanders to get to America, it also allows more flexibility in flight times,” he says.
“In the last 12 months in New Zealand 177,000 Kiwis have travelled to the States, including 44,000 travelling to San Francisco. The city is House of Travel’s third most popular destination in America, coming in behind LA and Honolulu.
“While San Francisco is a bucket list destination in its own right, it is also a gateway for experiencing other American cities. Additional flights to San Francisco, with an early morning arrival time, will help more Kiwis to experience more of America.”
Brent says the announcement is also an opportunity for tourism in New Zealand.
“Direct flights with an American airline represent an opportunity for inbound passengers from the States. It also shows United Airlines’ faith in and commitment to New Zealand as a destination.”
House of Travel is the largest New Zealand owned and operated retail travel company, with 73 stores throughout New Zealand, from Kerikeri in the north to Invercargill in the south.
