All Geared Up For The Glammies
Entries are now open for the 2016 Golden Lamb Awards, aka the Glammies, which seeks out the tastiest and tender lamb in
New Zealand.
The competition gives farmers the opportunity to enter their lamb into one of the most highly regarded competitions the
industry has to offer.
The entries are then assessed by Carne Technologies in Cambridge for tenderness, yield, succulence and colour.
The scientific testing determines which top four entries from five categories will make it through to the final stage of
the competition, a taste test, held at the Upper Clutha A show in Wanaka on 11 March 2016.
The five categories include Best of Breed – Traditional, Best of Breed – Crossbreed, Best of Breed – Terminal X, Best of
Breed – Open and Retail.
Chief Executive of Beef + Lamb New Zealand, Dr Scott Champion, says the Glammies gives New Zealand farmers the
opportunity to showcase produce.
“This is a competition that highlights the pasture to plate story. It is held in high regard by the industry and shows a
farmer’s commitment to producing the best New Zealand lamb,” he says.
Entries for the Glammies close on December 4th for farmers and January 8th for retailers.
The competition, supported by Zoetis, marks the ninth year of the Glammies.
The entry form is available on beeflambnz.co.nz.
