Waikato App Development Director to Host Milestone New Zealand Conference
The director of a Waikato-based app developer is today headlining a piece of Silicon Valley in New Zealand.
Director of MEA, Ben Kepes, will host Australasia’s first-ever Lean conference, Lean15, to be held in Wellington from 5-7 October. The conference is set to attract over 300 attendees from Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
Kepes, originally from Wellington, is a director of the New Zealand app giant -which was also named last year as one of the 150 fastest-growing tech companies in the Asia-Pacific. Headquartered in Hamilton, and with five offices across the US, Australia and New Zealand, MEA has been responsible for the production of around 400 apps, including Printicular -which is the fastest-growing photo-printing app in the world.
First coined by Silicon Valley entrepreneur Eric Ries, the Lean methodology is about how startups can maximise impact with minimal resourcing, at extreme pace.
MEA -originally a startup -has been building apps since before there was even an app store, according to Kepes: "Our model aligns with the lean method. We have a product lab and we are constantly experimenting and innovating with new app ideas, that we very quickly put out to market.”
Kepes is a writer for Computerworld magazine and a globally-recognised expert in technology, entrepreneurship and business advice. His particular specialities extend to enterprise software, software integration, financial/accounting software, platforms and infrastructure as well as articulating technology simply for everyday users.
