Vector Charges Ahead
An additional EV (electric vehicle) charging station has gone in at Vector’s Carlton Gore Road office. This brings the
number of chargers at the premises to five, with three installed to charge Vector’s EV fleet vehicles and now two
available to any EV drivers. The first charger sited in the visitor’s carpark had been consistently booked out, so
Vector decided to install a second alongside, ensuring EV drivers would not be turned away.
Vector plans to install a further 33 chargers across the city over the next 12 months.
Network summary for week ending 4 October 2015
Electricity
Seven car v pole incidents kept Vector crews busy this week. They occurred in Papakura, Mt Roskill, Dannemora, Ponsonby,
Coatesville, Panmure and East Tamaki. A car also struck a pillar in Te Atatu.
Crews also attended six house fires to isolate the electricity supply so fire service personnel could work safely in
Beachlands, Otara, Mangere, Ponsoby, Mt Roskill and Penrose.
Gas
Damage was caused to our networks in Tauranga, Beachlands and Onehunga during the week after reports of third party
damage.
Projects
The Browns Bay zone substation is being refurbished. A new switchroom will be constructed at the back of the site to
accommodate 11kV switchgear, with provision for 33kV switchgear to be housed there in the future.
As well as strengthening the security of supply to the area, these works will ultimately reduce the substation’s
footprint, and enhance the appearance of the site.
This project will take place over the next few months.
