Electricity industry skills put to the test

The expert skills of some of the Electricity Supply industry's top employees will be put to the test next week at the 2015 Connexis Annual Connection Cable Jointer and Line Mechanic competitions.

In its 14th year, the three-day event will be opened by the Hon Louise Upston, MP for Taupo, at Hamilton's Mystery Creek Event Centre on Tuesday 6th October at 8.00am. The event highlights the best and brightest talent in the industry where they will compete in teams and as individuals showcasing high quality workmanship, technical knowledge and demonstrating exceptional workplace safety practices.

Connexis CEO Helmut Modlik says, "Annual Connection is a celebration of skills and training that might be ‘under-the-radar’ but are actually crucial to New Zealanders' everyday lives.

"Training in the electricity supply sector is an important strand in building infrastructure to support a thriving economy. This is always an exciting event and it's amazing to watch the expertise and enthusiasm within the industry. It's an industry that is growing in New Zealand and will continue to grow - and with that comes the need for the recruitment of keen, new people."
