Running late? Take a time machine
The popular ride-sharing service Uber has partnered with Pepsi to give people the opportunity to take a ride in a DeLorean time machine.
This month Back to the Future fans will celebrate a very special date, October 21 2015, the day on which Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) and Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) arrived in the future in the second instalment of the popular movie trilogy Back to the Future.
To kick off preparations for the infamous pair’s arrival, Pepsi and Uber have joined forces to give people the chance to book a ride in a real life time machine, the DeLorean, made famous in the Back to the Future movies. On Monday 5th October the DeLorean time machine, will be available on the streets of Auckland through the Uber app.
Pepsi is excited to be giving people a taste of the Back to the Future hype, in the build up to the special date.
“Pepsi has had a 30 year relationship with the Back to the Future movie franchise and this was a great opportunity for us to give some lucky people the chance to recreate their own moment from the film,” says Michael Taylor, PepsiCo New Zealand Senior Brand Manager.
He was quick to point out that this was a replica time machine and not the real thing: “We couldn’t find a working flux capacitor, so if you are running late for a meeting, then you will still need to work on your excuse!”
The DeLorean hits the streets of central Auckland from 10am-5pm, Monday 5th October.
