Kiwis donate their used gear for a good cause
Radio and TV presenters are among a number of New Zealanders who are turning their old gear into much needed funds for
Red Cross with Kathmandu’s #tradefornew campaign.
Radio stars Mike Puru and Jono Pryor will join “Wildboy” adventurer Brando Yelavich and TV host Shannon Ryan in donating
a sentimental travel item for the cause.
“This item of clothing has served me well on my travels around the world. I hope the sentimental value and stories this
holds can be reflected in dollars well spent at Red Cross,” Ryan said.
“Knowing that my donation will help Red Cross to continue their vital work and reduce the amount of used clothing in
landfill, makes giving up my sweater very easy.”
The Trade For New initiative will see Kathmandu stores across the country collect thousands of items of pre-loved
adventure clothing to be donated to Red Cross this month to support the charity’s ongoing humanitarian aide efforts.
“At Kathmandu we are dedicated to encouraging all Kiwis to tread lightly, and tread with purpose, in everything they
do,” says Kathmandu Community Coordinator Lindsay Tallott.
“Trade For New brings both goals together, and allows us to really champion the great work done by Red Cross, both here
in New Zealand and overseas.”
Donations are being collected at all Kathmandu stores throughout Spring. Kiwis can simply place their gear in the marked
bins to receive a 10% voucher off their next Kathmandu purchase (until November 1 2015).
