Minister visits for DairyNZ AGM
Dairy farmers will have the opportunity to hear from the Minister for Primary Industries Nathan Guy at DairyNZ's Annual
General Meeting (AGM) in the Waikato on Tuesday, October 13.
Minister Nathan Guy will address farmers and the DairyNZ board and senior management at the Morrinsville meeting, where
veteran dairy leader John Luxton will be farewelled. John is stepping down from DairyNZ's top job as chairman after more
than a decade of service to dairy industry bodies.
DairyNZ chief executive Tim Mackle says it is great news that the minister is attending the meeting. "The minister's
visit reflects the high regard we all have for John and his contribution to DairyNZ," he says.
"We have been through many industry challenges together and I will personally miss his support, wise counsel and
generous friendship. John has that ability to relate to everyone - and maintains 'mana' amongst and across many sectors
and stakeholders. We have been fortunate to have him lead DairyNZ from its formation in 2007," says Tim.
Results of the DairyNZ director elections will be announced at the AGM and the board and senior management will report
to farmers on the organisation's financial results and investment priorities.
Online and postal voting for DairyNZ's election closes on October 12 and farmers are urged to get their votes in as soon
as possible.
"The turnout is looking low at present so I'd really encourage more farmers to take the time to vote. The Board of
Directors set the investment priorities for DairyNZ and so they are very important roles in directing farmers' levy
investment," says Tim. www.dairynz.co.nz/elections<http://www.dairynz.co.nz/elections>
