Delaval Backs NZ Dairy Awards
Global dairy equipment market leader DeLaval has joined the family of national sponsors backing the 2016 New Zealand
Dairy Industry Awards.
Preparations for the 2016 awards programme are being finalised this week, as organisers and sponsors meet in Rotorua to
confirm final details.
DeLaval representatives will take their place at the table, alongside representatives from Westpac, DairyNZ, Ecolab,
Federated Farmers, Fonterra Farm Source, Honda Motorcycles, LIC, Meridian Energy, Ravensdown, and Primary ITO.
Chair Gavin Roden says the awards continue to attract strong support from the country’s leading dairy industry players.
“As an organisation we are continually striving to deliver an awards programme that meets industry needs and changing
employment structures while also enabling those with a passion to progress in the industry to participate,” Mr Roden
says.
“We’ve made significant changes to the 2016 awards programme to achieve our goals of enabling more people to enter one
of our three competitions and in creating a more even playing field within the competitions.”
He says the awards ability to evolve and to attract high levels of participation through entry numbers and attendance at
regional and national awards dinners is valuable and of interest to sponsors.
“We are really pleased to have DeLaval on board with our family of sponsors and are looking forward to the opportunities
that the association provides.”
DeLaval Oceania Regional President Andrew Pooch says DeLaval wants to support passionate dairy farmers from all levels
to develop and grow the industry.
“We have more than 125 years of innovation and experience in the New Zealand dairy industry and really enjoy the
opportunity to support farmers in managing their farms their way.”
Mr Pooch says sponsoring the awards will enable DeLaval to attract the best talent to its solutions and provide a
platform to showcase its latest products and services.
“Our main business is supplying herring-bone, rotary and robotic milking systems and after sales services to farmers.
But with increased use of technology to guide business decisions we have a number of products that will give dairy
farmers even more information and control over their operations.”
Entries in the 2016 awards – the Share Farmer of the Year, Dairy Manager of the Year and Dairy Trainee of the Year
competitions – open on October 20. Entries will be received online atwww.dairyindustryawards.co.nz.
