Accolades keep flowing for top NZ design company
A Christchurch company is producing a string of world first award-winning hi-tech products that are saving money and
saving lives of New Zealanders.
The company, inFact, is New Zealand’s largest product design company and is the innovator behind Fibre-gen, which was a
finalist at the Champion Canterbury Business Award in Christchurch last night
Nigel Sharplin, managing director of inFact and director of Fibre-gen, says they are becoming one of the most exciting
companies in New Zealand for design products that are helping New Zealanders.
Fibre-gen was one of three finalists in the Canterbury innovation award for its world-first timber acoustic stiffness
measurement device HITMAN which is helping the forestry industry decide which logs are best for housing construction or
not.
Fibre-gen was a finalist at the 2015 New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards and is a finalist in three categories of the New Zealand
Innovators Awards. The winners will be announced at the Cloud in Auckland on October 21. Sharplin says the inFact design
engineers are changing the hi-tech and innovation game through design thinking.
“We have helped our clients innovate the world's largest selling ever electric wheel chair remote control; the world's
first ever chip card outdoor payment terminal; the world's first ever LCD touch elevator control panels and the world's
most renown log sonic measuring devices.
“We are also proud of our involvement with Clever Medkit, an award-winning innovation revolutionising the global
workplace first aid and healthcare inventory management. We strive to provide best-practice service and deliver tangible
world-class results.
“The Clever Medkit is a wall-mounted kit, armed with sensors and a sim card to constantly measure and monitor the
quantity of supplies. People using the kit can press different buttons for different injuries and the relevant
compartments light up. If supplies get low, electronic alerts are sent through to restock.
“It has already won a number of awards including the an international Best of What’s New award in the Popular Science
magazine, which lists Clever Medkit among the top 100 innovative technologies in the world.”
