Accolade for Tourism New Zealand’s premium sector at Luxperience
Tourism New Zealand’s global strategy to attract high-value visitors has been celebrated on the international stage this week at the luxury travel trade show Luxperience in Sydney.
The prestigious ‘Destination Award’ that Tourism New Zealand picked up follows a string of recent successes in the premium sector.
The inaugural award was presented at the Luxperience Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony, held in Sydney on Tuesday, 8 September and recognises the destination that best incorporates luxury and experiential travel as a key contributor to their overarching global strategy.
Tourism New Zealand’s Director of Trade, PR and Major Events René de Monchy says; “Winning the Destination Award is a great honour and further confirmation of the work Tourism New Zealand has been undertaking to attract more high value visitors to New Zealand”.
TIME Unlimited Tours, Auckland and Split Apple Retreat, Motueka were also recognised at the Awards Ceremony with TIME Unlimited Tours taking out the ‘Meaningful’ exhibitor award and Split Apple taking the ‘Judges’ Choice’ award, rounding out a successful event for New Zealand.
Tourism New Zealand’s presence at Luxperience has impressed once again with the New Zealand stand and media and buyer lounge occupying a prominent position on the show floor. A total of 44 of New Zealand’s top premium products were represented at Luxperience, the Southern Hemisphere’s only Luxury Travel Trade Show, with exhibitors connecting with over 350 global luxury travel sellers and media.
“The show follows on from four highly successful familiarisation trips in New Zealand staged just prior to Luxperience, where 16 luxury travel advisors from our key global markets experienced some of New Zealand’s finest accommodation and activities throughout the country first hand,” says Mr de Monchy.
Murray McCaw of Bay of Many Coves attended Luxperience alongside Tourism New Zealand and says; "Tourism New Zealand did an outstanding job at pulling the team together and bringing a real feel for the New Zealand luxury experience to the event.
“Luxperience provided a great platform to sell our own individual regions and experiences and I had a number of buyers comment on how New Zealand stood out amongst the other exhibitors at the event.”
“The win comes just a month after Tourism New Zealand was awarded ‘Tourism Board of the Year 2015’ by the Virtuoso Network – further cementing our position as a leading Tourism Board and destination for luxury travel,” says Mr de Monchy.
“Capturing greater value from the lucrative Premium sector is an important component of Tourism New Zealand's strategy to grow the number of high-value visitors to New Zealand.”
