Cadrona Extend Opening Hours & On Track to Break Snowfall Record
Cardrona Alpine Resort, (Friday, 11th September)
Cardrona is set to have the best season it’s had in 20 years – just 15cm off beating its own record of 333cm total snowfall in a season. The resort is experiencing one of the best seasons in regards to snowfall and snow conditions that it has seen in the past two decades, and with the longest season in the South Island, there are still 4 weeks to break the record.
Spring has officially kicked off with a few early September snowfalls gifting Cardrona guests ideal snow conditions to start the spring season. Currently even Cardrona’s lowest lift, the Valley View Quad, still boasts superb conditions both off and on-piste.
Following on from last year, Cardrona are keeping lifts open until 5pm on fine days for the rest of the season, giving guests an extra hour of skiing and snowboarding (weather permitting).
Cardrona’s General Manager Bridget Legnavsky says the benefits of skiing and snowboarding in spring make it an ideal time to visit the mountains.
“Spring is no doubt the best time of the year to ski and ride. It’s warmer and we always have our best snow conditions as our base has built up through the winter months of June, July and August. September and the October School holidays would be my pick for choosing a ski holiday as there are fewer people, sensational conditions and the opportunity to jump in the lake at the end of the day”.
Cardrona are also running Spring Specials valid until Closing Day (October 11th) which include:
- Unlimited Adult Spring Pass: $449
- Unlimited Spring Family Pass: $999 (2 adults and dependent children)
- Buy a 3 Day Flexi Pass and get your 4th day free
- Cardrona’s On-Mountain Apartments from $175 per night
- 2 for 1 (Bring a Friend) Skiwees, Lowriders or Ride Tribe kids’ programmes
Cardrona will be open for the entire October school holidays this year and is home to the longest scheduled season in the South Island (Closing Day, October 11th).
