Shareclarity set to join the global fintech race from Auckland
This week marks the arrival of Shareclarity a first-of-a-kind, information platform that provides crowd-based and cloud-based share price valuations.
“It’s clear that people want to understand their investments better and they want more control over their investment decisions. To do so, they’re asking for relevant information, transparent information and independent information. And that’s where we come in.”
Founder, Daniel Kieser, says the proposition behind Shareclarity is to answer a simple question that anyone with a stake in the sharemarket should be asking: what shares should I own and why?
“Shareclarity is designed for anyone and everyone who is interested in shares. From first time investors to students, from financial advisors to fund managers. We’ve tried to demystify the sharemarket by building a transparent window into how companies operate and what their shares could be worth. Our users already have access to over 65 NZX-listed companies across a range of industries that they can discuss, challenge and modify in ways that haven’t been previously possible.”
Shareclarity was the brainchild of Kieser, a former equity research analyst who struggled with the idea that one person could know more about a business than many. “One person may know a lot about a business, but ten people will likely know a lot more.”
Kieser also struggled with the perception that investing in shares was a form of gambling. “Like anything, the less you understand the more risky it is. But where do you start? It is difficult and expensive for anyone to access enough information to form an opinion on a company. But what if they were given a simple starting point that already integrated the relevant market information, company announcements, chat forums and financial analysis? People could engage more constructively with their advisors, investors could self-manage more of their portfolios, students could apply their learnings, fund managers could challenge their perspectives and financial advisors could broaden the range of companies they advise on.”
“Shareclarity is only at the start of its journey, but if we get it right, we’ll hopefully create mind-shift in the way people think about the sharemarket by bridging the knowledge-gap between the average person and the most sophisticated investors. We want to make the relevant information accessible and useable, and we want to afford everyone an equal opportunity to learn and contribute to the understanding of shares.”
“In this first year of Shareclarity we want as many people as possible to interact with our platform and test how many new insights it gives them into a market that can be full of opportunities.”
