Network summary for week ending 6 September 2015
Electricity
A large seagull struck lines in Bayswater on Sunday morning causing an area outage.
The equipment was quickly repaired, sadly the bird did not survive.
An emergency shutdown had to be carried out in Silverdale, to remove trees that were interfering with powerlines. Trees
also caused lines to spark in Huapai during the week. One in four outages is caused by trees, especially in bad weather.

Our crews made a site safe in Manurewa after a car vs pole incident during the week. A council asset was damaged, and it
was referred to the council by our crews. Repairs were also carried out after car vs pole incidents in New Lynn,
Clevedon and Parakai during the week. No damage was caused when a vehicle struck a transformer in Massey North.
House/building fires saw power isolated to addresses in Glen Eden, Remuera, Te Atatu Peninsula and Devonport during the
week. Our crews were on site to advise that an isolation wasn’t necessary at the Te Atatu Peninsula incident.
Gas
Emergency services advised us of third party damage to our gas network in Mairangi Bay during the week. All necessary
repairs were carried out by our service provider.
Projects
Vector’s East Tamaki district regulator station, which provides the largest supply of gas to East Auckland, has been
upgraded. This upgrade has optimised gas supply to the East Auckland area, and will support projected growth in the
region.
Our crews were on site in East Tamaki for several weeks, and the project was completed at the end of August.
