Northland holiday accommodations enjoying
business boost
Northland accommodation providers are
gearing up for another strong summer season after an
excellent 2015.
Many hotels, motels and holiday parks have reported positive growth, with some owners experiencing their best year since the 2008 global financial crisis.
One place attracting visitors from all over the world is the Beachside Holiday Park in Paihia, owned by former serviceman Dusty Miller.
Dusty says the growth in online bookings made through sites such as Booking.com is attracting more overseas visitors and is a significant contributor to the park’s success.
Dusty said; “Over the last few years people have become a lot more internet savvy, increasingly using it to research and book their holidays.
“We’ve made an effort to ensure we’re online, in the places where people can easily find us and are now reaping the rewards.
“You’ve got to be flexible and able to move with the times, an increasing number of bookings are being made last minute and a growing number through sites such as Booking.com.
“We only registered with the site at the start of the year and it accounted for 37% of our motel revenue that season.”
Lynette Shepstone, co-owner of Breakwater Motel in Paihia shares Dusty’s positive experiences; “From what I’ve heard, the majority of the accommodation operators in the region have had a good year, especially over summer 2014 to 2015.
“And again, for us, it’s all been about the internet bookings with Booking.com has been a big part of that, it’s our biggest contributor of bookings.”
Booking.com is the world’s largest online hotel and accommodation with 690,000 listed properties in more than 80,000 unique destinations.
Booking.com New Zealand Area Manager Tracey Foxall says it’s great to hear about the success Northland accommodations are enjoying.
“For
accommodation providers like these, using Booking.com means
that no matter the size of the property or however off the
beaten track it is, travellers from all over the world will
be able to find it and book their ideal accommodation.
“People want to hear what other travellers think of a
property and Booking.com reviews are an authentic and
trustworthy way of researching top spots to ensure you book
the accommodation that’s exactly right for you.”
