Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Region’s finest homes
Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Region’s finest homes announced
A new build in the Marlborough Sounds and a renovation in Nelson have been revealed as this year’s top Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast homes, winning Supreme Awards in the Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Registered Master Builders 2015 House of the Year.
Jennian Homes Nelson Bays took out three regional awards with the Marlborough Sounds home, including a Gold Award and category win for the PlaceMakers New Home $300,000 - $400,000 Award, as well as the Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Registered Master Builders Supreme Award for the 2015 House of the Year.
The company also took home Silver Awards in the ITM New Home up to $300,000 and PlaceMakers New Home $400,000 - $500,000 categories for other properties.
J Lewis Building was awarded the Supreme Award for Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Registered Master Builders 2015 Renovation of the Year, as well as a Gold Award and overall category win for the Mitre 10 Renovation Award $250,000 - $500,000.
The judges called Jennian Homes Nelson Bays’ winning build a high-quality, well-designed home built on a challenging site.
“This Marlborough home was a pleasant surprise, after a long windy drive into a remote but stunning holiday retreat,” they said.
“Access to the site posed a range of challenges for the builder to navigate. The end result was a well-balanced home with a design tailored to its function as a holiday home. It takes full advantage of the bush setting and outstanding views and is an exceptional build for its price range.”
The judges called the J Lewis Building project a well-executed renovation and an inviting home.
“The builder did a fantastic job of meeting the client’s brief and expectations. A stand out feature was the kitchen which was beautifully integrated with an outdoor entertainment space,” they said.
“The curved façade proved to be a challenge which was overcome superbly and made the most of the fantastic view. Both the finishing and workmanship were a credit to the builder.”
The results were revealed at a gala dinner on Saturday 25 July at the Marlborough Convention Centre in Blenheim. The winning builders were recognised by members of the Marlborough, Nelson & West Coast Registered Master Builders and members of the local building industry.
There were 11 Gold Award winners from the Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast region which will now be eligible, alongside Gold Award winners from up and down the country, to become National Gold Reserve finalists, which will be announced in September.
National category winners and the Registered Master Builders Supreme Awards for Renovation of the Year and House of the Year will be announced at a gala dinner in Auckland in November.
The Awards are made possible through the support of PlaceMakers, Master Build Services, James Hardie, GIB, Nulook, SafetyMate, Carters, ITM, Plumbing World, Resene, Westpac and Mitre 10.
