IP litigator ‘leading the profession’ ranked in NZ Lawyer’s 2015 Hot List.
Ian Finch, partner of national intellectual property firm James & Wells, has featured in the NZ Lawyer’s annual Hot List, having been recognised for his efforts ‘leading the profession’.
The NZ Lawyer Hot List details the ‘who’s who in law’ and showcases the best of the legal profession, singling out those who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, contributed significantly to their community, or who have played crucial roles in some of New Zealand’s most significant cases.
Judges commented on Ian’s editorship of New Zealand’s leading IP text, his contribution to the New Zealand Institute of Patent Attorneys and his recent successful representation of G-Star Raw in a landmark copyright case against Jeanswest.
It has been a stellar year for Ian, who was recently named on the Intellectual Asset Management’s IAM Patent 1000 as the sole top-tier ranked individual for patent litigation and transactions in New Zealand.
Judges noted Ian is an “erudite professional who edits New Zealand’s leading IP law text; when on a case, he is a “polished presenter”.
Alongside his IAM Patent 1000 gold ranking, Ian was featured in the Chambers-Asia Pacific 2015 guide for intellectual property.
Earlier in the year Ian was also featured in the World Trade Mark Review 1000 – The World’s Leading Trade Mark Professionals, with judges noting he is “a superstar who manages to do great work across all areas of trademark law”, and was also recognised in the latest edition of Best Lawyers in New Zealand in the practice area of intellectual property law.
