Kiwi Wealth has been named a Consumer NZ People’s Choice KiwiSaver provider.
The Award followed a survey of nearly 5000 Consumer members asked how satisfied they were with their providers. Kiwi Wealth was formerly Gareth Morgan KiwiSaver and is owned by Kiwibank.
Consumer NZ chief executive Sue Chetwin said Kiwi Wealth customers were impressed with the information it provided. Overall, 90 percent of survey respondents who had their funds with Kiwi Wealth rated its performance as “good” or “very good”.
Consumer NZ introduced the People’s Choice Awards to recognise the huge number of its members who participate in its regular surveys.
It is also rolling out Consumer Top Brand awards as products are tested. The first Top Brands have gone to Sony for televisions, and Miele and Sebo for vacuum cleaners. Vacuum cleaners regularly rate in the top 10 most researched Consumer reports online, Ms Chetwin said.
To achieve Top Brand status, a brand must perform well in product tests, customer satisfaction and reliability surveys. Other Top Brand awards to be announced this year will include washing machines, dishwashers, fridge/freezers, wall and free-standing ovens, and espresso machines.
Consumer NZ chief executive Sue Chetwin said the organisation was uniquely placed to name Top Brands because of its long history of testing products and services, and its extensive data collection on reliability. “We’ve been gathering this information for more than 50 years. Now we have the tools to use the data and name brands we think deserve recognition.”
Winning brands are able to license use of Consumer NZ awards for marketing and promotions. All revenue goes back to the research and testing programme, the awards initiatives, and to working on behalf of consumers, Ms Chetwin said.
The new awards complement the existing programme - Consumer Trusted, which recognises businesses that perform to the highest standards of customer satisfaction and Consumer Recommends, awarded to products and services that rate highly in Consumer independent tests.
