Fletcher Building appoints Steve Vamos as new director.
Fletcher Building Limited announces that it has appointed Steve Vamos to the board. Mr Vamos will be an independent director and his appointment will be effective from today. He has also been appointed to the board of subsidiary Fletcher Building Industries Limited, and will be a member of the nominations committee.
Steve has more than thirty years experience in the Information Technology and online Media industry and has lived and worked in Australia, the USA and Asia.
Steve currently serves as a non-executive Director of Telstra (appointed September 2009) and as is a member of the Advisory Board of the University of Technology Sydney Business School.
Previous executive roles include, Vice President, Worldwide Sales and International Operations for Microsoft Corporation Online Services Group (2007 - 2008), Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft Australia and New Zealand (2003 - 2006), Chief Executive Officer of ninemsn and senior executive roles at Apple and IBM.
Previous non-executive directorships include Medibank Private (October 2011-March 2014) and David Jones (June 2012-February 2014).
Steve holds a degree in Civil Engineering (Hons) from the University of New South Wales.
Fletcher Building chairman Sir Ralph Norris welcomed Mr Vamos to the board:
“We are delighted that Steve has agreed to join the board. His extensive background in the technology and digital sectors will add considerably to our mix of skills and I look forward to working with him”, Sir Ralph said.
