HiFX Morning Update, June 10

The NZDUSD opens at 0.7130 (mid-rate) this morning.


Currency markets are little changed, with investors taking a breather after a night devoid of any notable data releases. The NZD continues to look heavy ahead of tomorrow’s RBNZ announcement.

Overnight Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras presented a new budget proposal ahead of tonight’s summit in Brussels. Last week Greece and its creditors failed to agree on their separate proposals with Tsipras describing the IMF’s proposal as “absurd”.

Global equity markets are broadly lower - Dow -0.02%, Nikkei -1.76%, Shanghai -0.36%,FTSE -0.53%, DAX -0.58%, CAC -0.15%

Gold prices have gained $3 trading at $1176 an ounce, Oil (WTI) is up 3.2% at 60.01 a barrel.
