Land access for UFB removing roadblocks to better Internet
InternetNZ has today welcomed the release of new proposals by Communications Minister Amy Adams to improve the rollout
of Ultra Fast Broadband.
"These proposed land access changes would remove some of the roadblocks that have prevented New Zealanders from getting
access to better Internet infrastructure sooner," says Jordan Carter, Chief Executive of InternetNZ.
"We have heard frustrations from our members and the community in general that it can be hard to get connected to these
new networks, due to challenging rules that place around land access. We are pleased that the Government has heard this
and taken action."
"We will be analysing the proposals and seeking comments from our members, and from the New Zealand Internet Community,
to share with the Government by way of submissions - to help get these important changes right.
"Removing these sorts of roadblocks is something only Government can do - and we are very pleased to see them starting
down the path of doing it," says Jordan Carter.
