A new chief executive is to lead the country's national educational research organisation.
The Board of the New
Zealand Council for Educational Research (NZCER) has today
announced the appointment of Graeme Cosslett to the role
of director and chief executive.
"Graeme is a deeply committed educator with the skills, experience and drive needed to lead NZCER into an exciting new phase,” board chair Peter Coolbear says.
"Graeme has an impressive list of achievements in his current role, including leading a highly successful three year project to make all NZCER tests available to schools online.”
Graeme, 45, is
NZCER’s current General Manager, Products and Services,
responsible for the development, management and
marketing of a wide range of evidence-based educational
assessments, surveys, resources and services such as the
widely used PAT “I am excited about leading NZCER as we
strive to influence an education system that values learning
with evidence.” Graeme says. “NZCER is a fantastic place
to work, with a strong culture of collaboration, innovation
and lifelong learning.”
He has worked on many research and evaluation projects and has a real understanding of the needs and challenges of research now and into the future. He has also worked closely with NZCER’s Māori research unit, Te Wāhanga, and is determined to see NZCER continue to make a strong contribution to Māori education.
Graeme worked as a primary and intermediate teacher for 10 years, with a particular interest in technology, and he continues to serve as the chair of a school board of trustees.
