Lots of apartments on the market energises sales

Lots of apartments on the market energises sales, says Alexandra Park

Chief executive of Alexandra Park Dominique Dowding says the array of Auckland apartments selling off the plans at the moment is actually proving to be helpful as the Auckland Trotting Club promotes its ‘223 Green Lane West’ urban village development.

“You flick through the property pages and see all these proposed apartments for sale around Auckland, and wonder who’s going to buy them all. However it seems to be really energising the market and subsequently our sales over the past couple of months have been strong.

“There’s now some real selection out there, and finally after a pretty quiet 10 years with few new apartment complexes built in Auckland, we’re seeing some real critical mass coming on to the market. The likes of young couples are making a weekend of it, visiting many sites and displays and so it has to be great for the apartment sector all round,” says Ms Dowding.

Statistics New Zealand notes that nationwide building consents for new dwellings has more than doubled since March 2011, with apartment growth again strong in Auckland.

Dominique Dowding says these days quality is paramount for many.

“People visiting our display apartment are keen to talk about urban design, architecture, construction materials and workmanship. They’re spending good money, want a sustainable, healthy and liveable community, a quality environment and need to be assured of good capital gain in the future. That’s what our proposition can deliver and subsequently we’re selling well.”

Alexandra Park recently opened up its spectacular display apartment to the wider public following a number of sales already confirmed and hugely positive feedback to the ‘223 Green Lane West’ development.

“We’re getting really good numbers through. Given there’s a lot of competition out there, the public’s expectations around the quality of the display apartments have also lifted accordingly. In that regard, we’ve completely delivered as well,” says Ms Dowding.

Alexandra Park’s two bedroom display apartment is a spacious 100m2 replica, showcasing the stylish and quality finishes each apartment comes with, a 27m2 unique garden room balcony and a stunning virtue view overlooking Alexandra Park. It is now open seven days a week from 12pm – 4pm to the public.
